At this stage we are trying to only complete simple alterations that aren’t excessively reliant on an in-person fitting, However, for the ones that we do offer, we have two ways in which we try and get the correct sizing for altering your clothes. The first way is that when we collect an item to alter we ask that you also include a similar item that fits your perfectly so that the Seamster can match the sizing. It’s very important this item sits on your body in the same place as the item you want to get altered so we have tutorial videos to help you choose the right item. The second way is that we ask that you pin the item yourself. This, again, needs to be done correctly so we have tutorials to show you where and how to pin you clothes in the right way.
We’re so sorry to hear that your order may have gone wrong. We deal with each scenario on a case by case basis so please get in contact with us at hello@sojo.uk and let us know your order number and what the issue is and we’ll try and see if we can help!
Our delivery fee is £3.99 per order and this includes both the pick-up and drop-off and covers a £9 an hour wage for our riders.
Sojo typically picks-up orders Monday-Saturday and 9am-6pm however at this early stage we will only be offering different 3-hour time slots depending on area. For example if you are based in Chiswick, one week you may be offered Monday 9am-12pm, Wednesday 3pm-6pm or Saturday 12pm-3pm and then the following week those pick-up shift times may change! You will always see available pick up times at check-out when we ask you to schedule your pick-up.
Currently we have a turn-around time of 5 days and we hope to drop your order back in the evening, 5 days after it has been picked up. However, we are looking to work on an express service that would work to get your order back that same day, or the next working day.
Sojo is starting out in roughly zones 1&2 of London but has plans for a quick and rapid expansion. We want to make sure we’ve worked out the kinks in the process and service first, but once we’ve done that we want to expand throughout the whole of London and then throughout other cities in the UK. Make sure you sign-up to our mailing list and follow us on socials to stay up to date with our expansion.
Unfortunately, at this point, once your order has been placed there is no way to amend it and if you would like to get something else altered or repaired it will have to be a separate order. We will be working on changing this so that you can add another item at any stage up to when the order is picked up but it’s not a priority at the moment!
The prices of the Seamster’s services remain the same both on and off our platform. We take a commission of 30% on the orders we are able to bring to that Seamster. This is the market rate in the tailoring industry and this 30% covers: customer recruitment, capturing and processing of payments, shipping infrastructure, liability and guarantees and customer service support. The delivery fee of £3.99 which includes both pick-up and delivery is to cover the rider wage of £9 an hour.
As stated at checkout, we do require that someone is in when one of our riders comes to pick up the order and if this is not the case and a secondary pick-up attempt is needed then the customer may be charged a second delivery fee (another £3.99).
You can place an order on Sojo 24/7 but can only schedule the pick-up of your order at certain times specified by us!
During this current climate we are doing contact-free delivery, meaning one of our riders will leave your bag on your doorstep and they will step back so they are at a 2 meter distance whilst you answer the door and take your order. Equally, we ask that the same boundary is respected when our rider picks up your order.
At the early stage we ask that you place your own items in a reusable bag. Your rider will attach a tag with your order number onto the handles so that your bag and items can be identified by the seamster. Upon the delivery of your items, they should be returned in their original reusable bag within our own brown paper, 100% recyclable and ethically manufactured bags.
Currently there is no enforced minimum spend however we are working to implement a minimum spend of £10 on the App.
We offer both repairs and alterations to your clothes! Currently the options for both aren’t too extensive to allow for us to deliver the best service whilst we figure out what Seamster fixes can work remotely. However, down the line we do intend to expand out item and alteration and repair options.
We’ve started off with the simplest and most common items on our list however we definitely have plans to expand to include everything. Please let us know what item you have and what alteration/repair you would like done to it so we can consider adding it to the list sooner rather than later!
We currently don’t have a mechanism for being able to cancel an order however we are working on implementing this to allow customers to cancel their order up to 24-hours before collection. After your order has been collected there will be no opportunity to cancel this order.
On Sojo you can only send all your items to one chosen Seamster. This decision of which local Seamster you would like to support is chosen at the beginning of the order process where you can see their story and prices and make your decision from that. The only way you can use two separate Seamsters is if you place two separate orders on the app.
Currently we are the ones selecting and onboarding local Seamster’s that actually have shop fronts and function as a business in its entirety. We think it’s important to support the high-street and community and allow them to tap into a younger demographic. We are open to suggestions if you have a Seamster local to you that you believe offers a great service and should be on our platform- contact us at hello@sojo.uk. However, as we grow we do want to consider onboarding freelance Seamsters for whom we could provide a steady income. That's just not how we’re starting off at the moment!
